Presto PowerCrisp Microwave Bacon Cooker

The quality is fine. The design is compact, easy to assemble, disassemble, clean, and store. It seems to hold about 6 slices of bacon without having to overlap pieces (overlapping is bad because the two pieces can virtually weld to each other during cooking). For our old microwave (I think it must have been an early Thomas Edison prototype) six pieces take five minutes to cook under full power. The bacon comes out attractively brown and crisp, and though the cooked pieces will initially have a bend in them (from being draped over the racks), that can be straightened without consequence if they are removed from the rack before they cool and laid on a plate. If they're used for sandwiches or some other application where presentation isn't an issue, the bend makes a convenient place to break them. Overall, this is so much faster, easier and cleaner (and presumably somewhat less fatty) than pan frying, and produces such a uniformly crisp and well-cooked product, that I don't intend to ever pan fry bacon again.
